Berhampur University students demand Concession in Exam Fees for 2014 exams

 Berhampur (Odisha): Post graduate students of Berhampur University here are demanding exemption of the examination fees this year in view of cyclone Phailin and flood that hit Odisha last month.

The process of filing examination forms for first and third semester students was to begin yesterday.

As the students were firm on their demand, the university authorities extended the date to December 6 to start the form fill up for the first and third semester examinations to be held in the first week of January 2014.

“We have demanded it earlier also as most of the students were badly affected due to the severe cyclone Phailin and subsequent flood in the state”, said students union president Bhabani Kanta Sahu.

The demand was also placed before the vice chancellor and post-graduate council chairman for appropriate steps to be taken with the state government, added Lalata Kumar Gouda, secretary of the students union.

The state government has already declared waiving of the examination fees of the Class IX and X in the cyclone and flood affected districts, including Ganjam. The government has also decided to provide text book sets and a pair of uniform to the disaster affected school students.

We want the government to immediately announce waiving of the examination fees for the university students, he said.

Armed Forces Medical College Exam 2014 Details

AFMC ( Armed Forces Medical College) is to conduct the entrance exam for students who wish to be included in the Army Medical College , Pune. AFMC is the first health center in India. Students after completing their MBBS course from the Institute can work for at least 7 years in the military.AFMC take the entrance exam every year.

Syllabus of AFMC entrance exam : -
AFMC exam duration is 2 hours . It will have 200 multiple choice questions . There are 50 questions in Biology , Chemistry 50 questions , 50 questions in Physics, 25 questions of logic , intelligence and reasoning, 25 questions in English and understanding. For every wrong answer will be negative marking. The question of the entrance exam is based on material that is usually followed by the board of higher secondary .

Eligibility for AFMC Entrance Exam : -

Basic requirements for qualification in 10 +2 with physics, chemistry, biology and English. The minimum score is the mark of 60 % or more in the PCB. They do not have to print the value of less than 50 % in English and other sciences. Those who have passed any equivalent plus two with PCB and English as a candidate in question also must have passed mathematics in 10 standard

Age 17 years or before December 31 of the application year . Age limit is 25 years. There are exceptions to every 5 years for those belonging to SC, ST or OBC .

Candidates participating in the final year B. Sc must be 24 years of implementation. Candidates must be citizens of India. Those who have been to Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan and other countries in order to settle permanently in India can apply. Students do not have to get married . Also not allowed to marry between classes. Candidates must be physically fit .

Prospectus and forms can be purchased from ( registration ) , the Armed Forces Medical College , Pune by paying one hundred fifty five Demand Draft should be addressed to the Commander, AFMC , Pune. Applicants must also submit two separate articles 9cms x 5 cm in size with DD . Applicants must also include a request for application forms and prospectus. Candidates can also purchase an image from the post office designated by paying the amount of Rs 250 / - through Demand Draft . The form followed herein is similar to the online application . Welcoming the meeting , Vice Chancellor K. Jayakumar said better employability of students would be a hallmark of Malayalam University .

After the death of Rabindranath Tagore, the house belonging to Gaganendranath Tagore and Abanindranath Tagore on the south-west side of the main building was purchased by a private party. Late Suresh Chandra Majumdar on behalf of Rabindra Bharati Society collected from public around Rs. 15 Lakhs and part of the money was paid to the private party to acquire the property as stated above. In the meanwhile the private party went to the High Court for enhancement of the award and the party was given additional award of Rs. 3 Lakhs by the court. As Suresh Chandra Majumdar was facing severe fund crisis, he asked the West Bengal Government to release suitable grant. An agreement was signed between the Government and Rabindra Bharati Society and as a condition of the grant, the Government was given the right to use Rabindra Bharati property for use of its proposed Dance, Drama and Music Institute. Accordingly, the Institute, namely West Bengal State Akademy of Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts (present name) was established in 1955. Uday Shankar, Ahindra Chowdhury and Ramesh Banerjee were put in charge of Dance, Drama and Music respectively. Uday Shankar subsequently left the Institute. In 1959, it was felt that the Government of West Bengal would establish a University as a memorial to Rabindranath. Since the original purpose of Rabindra Bharati Society was also the development Dance, Drama and Music, the general body of the Rabindra Bharati Society met and agreed that it should be merged with proposed university. The Government of West Bengal was further contemplating to celebrate birth centenary of Rabindranath Tagore. The Government thought that the best way to perpetuate the memory of Rabindranath tagore would be to acquire the family dwellings and utilize them for the purpose of establishing a university and persuaded Rathindranath Tagore to hand over the buildings including the room where Rabindranath Tagore breathed his last. In was also arranged that Viswa-Bharati publication division would vacate their occupied portion at “Bichitra” bhawan. Other than the famous Jorasanko Campus, the university have Emerald Bower Campus situated at B.T.Road in the historic “Emerald Bower” building built in early 1820s. The University was reconstituted in 1981 by the Rabindra Bharati Act, 1981. The objective of the University also changed as stated here: “Whereas it is expedient to reconstitute the University known as Rabindra Bharati to encourage in conformity with the ideas and thoughts of Rabindranath Tagore, the integration of cultural heritage of the nation consistent with its lingustic and socio-economic history and to enable it to function more efficiently as a University encouraging and providing for instruction, teaching, training and research in various branches of learning and course of study, promoting advancement and dissemination of knowledge and learning and extending higher education , to meet the growing needs of society and to make the constitution of various authorities or bodies o the University more democratic;”
