GSET 2014 APPLY ONLINE PROCESS - HOW TO APPLY FOR GUJARAT SET 2014 
How to Apply (Steps for submission of Online Application Form)
     


    The candidates must read the 'ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA' carefully and must satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility for the Test before filling the online application and submitting the printout of Online Application Forms. Before applying Online, candidates are advised to go through detailed notification available at GSET website and also to be shortly published in the Local Newspapers.

    First draw the Demand Draft(DD), drawn on any Nationalized Bank payable at Vadodara in the name of "The Member Secretary, Gujarat State Eligibility Test", of amount of Rs. 800/- For GENERAL/OBC(Non Creamy Layer) candidates & Rs. 700/- (For SC/ST/VH(Visually Handicapped) / PH(Physically Handicapped) candidates. Please carry all the detailed information of your DD with you when you start filling the online form .

    It is extremely important to fill the details of Demand Draft like, DD Number, DD Date and Bank Name in the Application form which is compulsory for form submission.

    Please note that Fee submitted through any other mode like Money Order, Pay order, Cheque, IPO etc. will be summarily rejected.

    Before applying Online, the candidates must possess the following :

    (i) Scanned passport (pp) size photograph in JPEG format and should not be more then 100kb.
    (ii) Demand Draft and its details. ( DD Number, DD Date and Bank Name)
    (iii) Personal Details, Educational Details etc.

    Candidate seeking admission to the Test must apply online through a link " ONLINE REGISTRATION " available on the GSET website: www.gujaratset.ac.in . No other means/ mode of application will be accepted.

    When a candidate click the "ONLINE REGISTRATION " link a window will appear entitled "Online Registration for Gujarat State Eligibility Test for Lectureship (for subject of Library and Information Science only)".

    click the button "APPLY ONLINE " to fill up the Application Form Online.

    Please fill correct information carefully in the online application form and follow the on screen instructions for filling up application form.Confirm that your Name, Subject, Centre, Category, Physically or Visually handicapped, DD Details and all other details filled are correct. otherwise no correction will be made after you submit the application form. SET Office will not be responsible for loss arising out of these to the candidates.

    Candidate has to upload his / her recent passport size photo which must be readily available with them, scanned in JPEG format and should not be more then 100kb in size. To upload the photo click "Browse" button.

    After filling all the informations correctly please click "SUBMIT" button given below the page.

    After you submit your details, your REGISTRATION NUMBER will be generated and displayed on the page. Please note down your REGISTRATION NUMBER correclly and carefully because for all the future purposes and correspondence ; like to reprint application form, to download Examination Hall ticket and to download Results the candidate can use REGISTRATION NUMBER. After taking down the REGISTRATION NUMBER, please click on button "NEXT".

    After successful submission & confirmation, the candidate should take printout of filled online Application Form two copies on A-4 size paper only The print out should be taken in POTRAIT orientation to have it in one single page.

    Please submit the Hard copy of the Application form and other enclosures in following sequence.

        Hard(Printed) copy of the Application form(Single Copy)

        Original Demand Draft drawn on any Nationalized Bank payable at Vadodara in the name of "The Member Secretary, Gujarat State Eligibility Test".

        Photo(Xerox) copy of Caste Certificate in case of SC/ ST/ OBC(Non Creamy Layer) candidate.

        Photo(Xerox) copy of Non Creamy Layer Certificate in case of OBC Candidate.

        Photo(Xerox) copy of Medical Certificate given by Competent Authority in case of Visually or Physically Handicapped Candidates.

        Photo(Xerox) copy of Gazette Copy (in case of change in name only) / Marriage certificate(in case name changed from maiden name.)

    The candidates must affix their recent identical passport size photographs, at the places indicated, on the printout of Online Application Form and must sign below it, at place indicated for candidate's signature.

    The candidates must put their signature at the places indicated, on the printout of Online Application Form. Application forms without candidate's signature will be rejected and the candidate will not be individually intimated in this regards.

    Put The Application form alongwith above mentioned enclosures in a 30 cm x 24 cm size envelope.

    The candidates are required to download the Cover Page Proforma from the link available on the page entitled "Online Registration for Gujarat State Eligibility Test for Lectureship(for subject of Library and Information Science only)" on GSET website and then paste the cover page on the 30 cm x 24 cm size envelope in which you have put the printed application form and other enclosures .

    Keep One copy of the printout of online Application Form for your record.

    SC/ST/PH/VH candidates must enclose the attested copy of certificate for the same. The certificate must be in candidate's own name and not in father's or Husband's name.

    OBC (Non-Creamy layer ) candidates must enclose attested copy of the caste certificate and the latest Non-Creamylayer Certificate. The certificate must be in candidate's own name and not in father's or Husband's name. OBC candidates will be considered as GENERAL Category if they not produce the OBC caste Certificate and the latest Non-Creamylayer Certificate alongwith the application form.

    The Application (consisting of one copy of printout of online application form) alongwith required documents (as mentioned above ) must reach the Gujarat State Eligibility Test Agency office, Vadodara within the prescribed time limit.

    Application received at GSET Agency office after the last date of submission will be rejected.

    The candidates are required to bring a photo identity card also along with their printout of online Examination Hall Ticket on the day of examination.

    It may be pointed out that getting application confirmation, downloading Examination Hall Ticket and noting of seating arrangement/venue of test from the Gujarat SET website shall be the sole responsibility of candidate only. Gujarat SET agency will not be held responsible in this regard.

    In order to avoid last minute rush, the candidates are advised to apply early. GSET agency will not be responsible for network problems or any other problem of this nature.

 Examination Structure and Scheme
 
 The Test for subject of Library and Information Science only for eligibility for Lectureship will consist of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held on 28th December 2013 (SATURDAY) in two separate sessions as under:

     Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any fifty (50). In the event of the candidate attempting more than fifty questions, the first fifty questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.

    Paper-II ( Library and Information Science) for eligibility for Lectureshipshall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.

    Paper-III ( Library and Information Science) will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.

    Syllabus of Test: All questions of Paper-II and Paper-III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus for subject of Library and Information Science (including all electives, without options). Syllabi for subject of Library and Information Science can be downloaded from the Gujarat SET Website www.gujaratset.ac.in . Gujarat SET Agency will not send the syllabus to individual candidates.

    All old examination ' s Questions Papers for Paper - I, Paper - II and Paper - III for subject of Library and Information Science are available in our website.

    No Negative Marking.

    Candidates are required to appear in all three papers. A candidate who does not appear in Paper-I and II will not be permitted to appear in Paper-III.

    The questions in all three papers will appear both in Gujarati and English versions. In case of any discrepancy in Gujarati and English version of questions in Paper-I, II and III, the English Version should be taken as final.

    The candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III on the ICR answer sheet provided separately.

    For Visually Handicapped (VH)candidates, thirty (30) minutes’ extra time shall be provided separately for paper-I and Paper-II. For paper-III, forty five (45) minutes’ extra time shall be provided. They will also be provided the services of a scribe who would be a graduate in a subject other than that of the candidate. Those Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates who are not in a position to write in their own hand-writing can also avail these services by making prior request (at least one week before the date of Gujarat SET Examination) in writing to the Gujarat SET office, Vadodara. Extra time and facility of scribe would not be provided to other Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates.

    The examination fees can be paid only by a Demand Draft(DD) drawn on any Nationalized Bank payable at Vadodara in the name of "The Member Secretary, Gujarat State Eligibility Test".

    Please note that fee submitted by any other mode like money order, Pay order, Cheque, IPO etc. will be rejected.

    Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

    The candidate has to attach the Original Demand Draft (DD) with the printout of online Application Form which he/she has to submit to the Gujarat State Eligibility test office, Vadodara. Keep one xerox copy of Demand Draft with you for future reference.

EXEMPTION (ELIGIBILITY FOR LECTURESHIP)

    Exemption from SET will be as per decisions taken by the UGC and State Government from time to time.

    NET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Lecturers in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. Provided, however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in compliance of the “University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempt from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.” The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET.

    For SET Candidates: The candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Lectureship held prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET, being eligible to apply for Lectureship anywhere in India. For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of lecturer only in the universities/ colleges belonging to the state from where they have cleared their SET.
 
ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA FOR GSET 2014 GUJARAT SET EXAM 

 Eligibility Criteria
     


    Only those candidates are eligible to appear in the GSET (only for subject of Library and Information Science ) who have completed / are studying in the final year of a UGC specified Master' s degree in the subject of Library and Information Science.

    Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (General / OBC) (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC in the subject of Library and Information Science are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Physically Handicapped (PH)/ Visually Handicapped (VH) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination in the subject of Library and Information Science are eligible for this Test.

    Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing in the final year at the qualifying Master’s degree examination in the subject of Library and Information Science or whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for the Test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for Lectureship only after they have passed their Master’s degree examination or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST/PH/VH category candidates)in the subject of Library and Information Science. These candidates must obtain their P.G. degree / marksheet within two years from the date of SET Examination with required percentage of marks, failing which they will be treated as disqualified.

    The Ph.D. degree holders in the subject of Library and Information Science whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in the SET Examination.

    Those candidates who are studying in the last semester of Master's Degree in the subject of Library and Information Science cannot appear for this test.

    There is no upper age limit.

    Candidates belonging to SC / ST / PH / VH / OBC(latest Non - Creamy Layer certificate) category are required to submit an attested copy of their Certificate alongwith the Online Printout of their Application Forms. Other candidates are not required to submit any certificates / documents in support of their eligibility along with printout of their Application Form. Therefore, the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test. In the event of any ineligibility detected by the agency at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action.

    Candidates having post-graduate diploma/certificate in the subject of Library and Information Science awarded by Indian University/Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by the foreign University/Institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with Master's degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.     Candidates may note that the verification of eligibility conditions with reference to the documents as may be called for will be taken up only after the candidate has qualified in the Test. If in the event of you being found ineligible at any stage for the award due to any reason (including unintentional computer error or printer’s devil etc.), the award may be withdrawn by Gujarat SET Agency.

    Any qualified/not-qualified candidate will not get any marksheet from SET agency. The SET agency will issue certificates to the qualifying candidates only.
